In the late '90s/early 2000s, Girard-Perregaux collaborated with Scuderia Ferrari to produce a refined line of co-branded watches. Unlike many modern Ferrari-themed timepieces, these models were understated—some didn’t even feature visible Ferrari logos. Among them were the GP F1-047 and F1-048, both referenced as 4955. Named after Ferrari F1 engine models, the F1-047 featured an aluminum case—rumored to be cast from a used Ferrari engine block—and was produced in limited numbers, estimated between 100 and 200 pieces. This version is believed to be a prototype for the subsequent series. The F1-048 which followed features a titanium case and a run of 1,000 numbered units. Both models belong to the third generation of “Pour Ferrari” watches and are powered by Girard-Perregaux’s GP 2280 movement.

This particular example, circa late '90's, features the aluminum case and bears serial #133, which we believe falls into the prototype category. It houses a carbon fiber dial, sourced from F1 bodies and features a titanium crown and pushers. It happens to come as a complete set directly from the original owner, which is a dream for any collector hunting this model. The warranty papers are unsigned, so if you've been looking for one this is a great opportunity to make this interesting piece of horology and automotive history truly your own. 

Dial: Is mint. Bezel: Light signs of use. Hands: Are matching. Case: Remains very strong with thick and even lugs. There is a bit of wear on the back of the lugs so it is not distracting.
