Introduced in 1956, the Rolex Day-Date was the first wristwatch to display both the day of the week and the date on its dial. Beyond this practical complication, it became synonymous with influential individuals throughout the following decades, including celebrities and leaders of industry. After adorning the wrists of both U.S. Presidents and other world leaders, the nickname "President" became synonymous with the model. Today, the Day-Date represents a tradition of Swiss watchmaking excellence and serves as a testament to Rolex's unwavering commitment to quality, precision, and enduring style.

This four digit example, circa 1970 features silver dial and "bark" bezel. This combination makes for a great option subtle option compared to fluted or a flat bezel as its muted and doesn't catch light but still offers the warmth of yellow gold. It has remained in excellent vintage condition with a mint dial that still retains all of its tritium plots, showing lovely patina. The case is also very nice with evenly proportioned lugs and retains strong hallmarks. The proportions of the ref. 180X are tough to beat in terms of charm, especially on various strap options and we'd argue remain excellent value in today's market. 

Dial: Fantastic with all luminous plots present, full and aged to a warm patina. The rest of the dial is virtually mint with no notable wear which is tough to find in this era. Bezel: Normal signs of use and no distracting wear. Hands: Are matching and their lume is stable. Case: Displays evenly proportioned lugs. All of the hallmarks are deep and crisp. Serial and reference are also still visible. Correct signed crown. Bracelet: Two piece canvas strap in field green and generic pin buckle. Crystal: Clear. Accessories: Correct 18k Rolex spring bars.
