The Rolex Oysterdate Precision was one of the brand’s longest-running and most understated models, remaining in production from the early 1960s through the late 1980s. Particularly popular in Europe, it never achieved the same prominence in the United States as Rolex’s more prestigious sports and dress models. What makes the 6494 especially intriguing is its manual-wind movement—a rarity among modern Rolex watches. Produced well into an era dominated by automatics, the later ref. 6694 stands as one of the final manual references in the company’s catalog. This 364X serial example, circa '59 houses a gorgeous black "gilt" dial with "roulette" date wheel. The combination of black/gold is a perennials classic and feels particularly special in a vintage Rolex. Overall this piece has remained in nice vintage condition with a dial/hands that show honest condition. The case retains thick, evenly proportioned lugs and its fitted with a slightly later rivet bracelet. It has an engraving on the clasp that could be lasered out if need be, displays light to medium stretch and will fit an approximate 7.5 inch wrist.
