The UG Polerouter made a lasting mark in horology with its romantic ties to aviation. Introduced in 1954, the model was released in partnership with Scandinavian Airline System (SAS), with the goal of creating a timepiece that was resistant to higher magnetism experienced in the North and South Poles. The Polerouter is also coveted for being a Gérald Genta design and at only 24 years old at the time, it is considered his first great contribution to horology. Genta would go on to design two of the most iconic pieces of the 20th century with the Nautilus and Royal Oak and more. Today, collectors are coveting the Polerouter as much as ever with the recent release of the Polerouter book in late '23. It was also around this time that the news of Breitling acquiring UG broke, which many collectors hope will further invigorate appreciation for the brand with its re-inception.

This example features a gold capped case with interesting brushed silver dial that's split by different brushing in four quadrants giving it interesting dimension. It houses a high-grade UG micro-rotor cal. 69 Overall, it has remained in fantastic vintage condition with all tritium plots still present and minimal wear on the dial. The case has thick, even lugs and sharp chamfers. The serial/ref. numbers are still visible under a loupe which is very desirable for UG collectors. The crystal is correct and signed UG and the crown is a service replacement. For anyone looking for a charming and well sorted vintage UG this piece stands out as a survivor.

Dial: Fantastic preservation with all tritium lume plots present and full with clean and warm patina. The dial itself is split by different brushing in four quadrants giving it interesting dimension. There is a light service mark above "T" but no other notable wear. Hands: Are matching and their lume is stable. Case: Thick, even lugs and sharp chamfers. Normal signs of use consistent with age. The serial/ref. numbers are still visible under a loupe which is very desirable for UG collectors. The crown is a service replacement Crystal: Is correct, signed UG and clear. Bracelet: Two piece and supple lizard strap in red with generic buckle. Accessories: NA The movement is running well on our timegrapher and comes with our 6-month mechanical warranty.
Year/era: 1960s Reference: 869102/11 Serial: 237XXXX Dimensions: 34mm wide, 44mm lug to lug, 19mm lug width, 8mm thickness (including crystal). Movement: Automatic and high-grade micro-rotor UG caliber 60.
