The UG Polerouter made a lasting mark in horology with its romantic ties to aviation. Introduced in 1954, the model was released in partnership with Scandinavian Airline System (SAS), with the goal of creating a timepiece that was resistant to higher magnetism experienced in the North and South Poles. The Polerouter is also coveted for being a Gérald Genta design and at only 24 years old at the time, it is considered his first great contribution to horology. Genta would go on to design two of the most iconic pieces of the 20th century with the Nautilus and Royal Oak and more. Today, collectors are coveting the Polerouter as much as ever with the recent release of the Polerouter book in late '23. It was also around this time that the news of Breitling acquiring UG broke, which many collectors hope will further invigorate appreciation for the brand with its re-inception. 

On offer is a stunning 18k yellow gold example with very desirable non-luminous dial/hands. What makes this example exceptionally rare is the "tapisserie" textured dial, adding depth and further appeal. This piece houses an automatic high-grade bumper UG cal. 138SS. It has remained in beautiful vintage condition with a strong case showing thick evenly proportioned lugs. It retains very legible ref./serial numbers which is very desirable for UG collectors. The dial shows some light patina with a few signs of age but nothing distracting. The crystal is correct, signed UG and it comes with an 18k UG signed pin buckle. Finding a completely correct Polerouter is getting harder each year and we're thrilled to offer this piece in the show which checks all the boxes a discerning collector could hope for.
