One of the oldest watchmaking companies, Vacheron was founded in 1755 in Geneva, Switzerland. As part of the "Holy Trinity," along with Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet, VC is known for their high-quality and unique design language. Even today, however, the brand remains relatively under-appreciated considering their significant contribution to horology.

On offer is a rare "Tank Chinoise" style dress watch, housed in 18k yellow gold, circa 1940s. Cartier first introduced the Chinoise in 1922, inspired by the shape of a Chinese temple portico and we believe this piece may have been inspired by the former. This piece offers an interesting take on the design with Arabic numerals on the even numbered hours and a beautiful raised enamel signature which adds a tremendous amount of charm for any VC or Patek Philippe of this era. At 19 X 27mm it feels roughly the size of a ladies Tank and we feel its small dimensions only add to its appeal. Overall, its remained in excellent vintage condition with clean dial showing minimal age. The case is strong, remaining well defined and retaining deep hallmarks. It also just came back from a complete service and is ready to enjoy for years to come. For anyone who appreciates a truly seldom seen find, this one hits all the notes a vintage collector could hope for.

Dial: Fantastic for its age with minimal wear and nothing distracting. All of the raised enamel is still clearly visible. Hands: Are matching. Case: Light signs of use overall. The lugs remain thick and even with hallmarks still present. Unsigned crown. Bracelet: Glossy gator strap in brown with generic buckle. Crystal: There is a small scratch on the lower portion but it is not distracting and otherwise clear. Accessories: An archive extract can be ordered to add to its provenance. The recently serviced movement is running well on our timegrapher and comes with our 6-month mechanical warranty.
