The Tudor Ranger was initially brought to market in the 1960s, emerging as a durable field watch sharing design elements of its not too distant cousin, the Rolex explorer. Today, the model holds a significant place in the brand's legacy, having been re-released in 2014, 22 and again in '25. Production of the original Ranger only spanned from the 60's to the 80's and today it is one of the most difficult vintage watches to acquire safely, as many were faked throughout the decades. Finding a strong vintage example becoming more difficult as each year passes.
We are thrilled to offer this Ranger Date, circa 77 which benefits from the practicality of a quickset date feature. This piece has remained in stunning vintage condition and is surely one of the best surviving examples in the world today. The dial is mint under magnification with cleanly aged tritium lume that has taken a warm yellow patina, matching the hands. The case/bezel are extremely sharp and appear completely unpolished. Perhaps most impressive is the rivet bracelet which displays virtually no stretch, also appearing untouched. This is the type of find that vintage collectors dream of and with its included service documentation from '25 we're thrilled to offer it to a great home where it can be enjoyed for the next adventure.
Dial: Phenomenal preservation with no notable blemished under magnification. All of the lume plots are present, full and have aged to a gorgeous and desirable "yellow" patina.
Bezel: Appears unpolished and no notable blemishes.
Hands: Are matching and all of their lume is stable in the hour and minute hands. There is some degredatino in the seconds hand.
Case: Appears completely unpolished with sharp lug holes. Thick and even lugs. Light signs overall. Correct signed crown.
Bracelet: Is a correct, matching C&I rivet style dated '76. It remains in remarkable condition, appearing untouched with virtually no stretch from factory. It retains 12 links and will fit an approximate 7.5 inch wrist.
Crystal: Clear.
Accessories: Service papers (dated 5/25), extra crystals and spring bars.
