Hamilton was founded in 1892 in Lancaster, PA and today remains one of the most important watch brands with American roots. Many collectors would consider their military contracts a crucial aspect of their success and relevance having provided "GI" (general issue) models for the U.S. and other countries, notably for the Vietnam and Gulf War. 

The Cross Country was introduced in '56 and was met with slow sale which makes it a rare find today. These pieces features gold filled cases and a beautiful painted black dial which aids in tracking various time zones such as Pacific Time, Central Time, etc. This example is set to EST and has remained in lovely vintage condition. The dial shows no notable or distracting wear and the case is equally nice with strong lines and no notable age. For any collector who appreciates an off the beaten path find, this is a remarkable and practical part of American watchmaking history.
