Blancpain is the oldest watchmaking company, dating back to 1735. The brand has weathered centuries and has a rich history of heritage, craftsmanship, and innovation. Credited with what we know as the modern dive watch, their now iconic Fifty-Fathoms just celebrated its 70th anniversary, having been released the same year as the Rolex Submariner in 1953. Although Blancpain might not be the first name to come to mind for many, the brand is seeing more deserved attention as collectors unpack their fantastic contribution to the world of horology. 

This particular BP ref. 7002 is a rare blue dial variant on bracelet that a limited/numbered series of just 200 pieces for Wempe. The the blue dial features a sub-seconds register and lumed Arabic numerals as well as luminous sword hands. This piece houses an ultra-thin and high-grade and C.O.S.C. certified 64-1 caliber. At 36mm X 40mm the size is both sporty and elegant, largely in part to its short lug length. While the white/Breguet dial ref. 7002 (estimated production of 1,000 pieces) is becoming more popular among collectors, this blue version is undoubtedly more scarce and makes for a versatile and practical addition to any collection.
