Previously sold by Hodinkee, this Bulova Deep Sea, circa 1969 is a debut year example of the reference 31001. These early pieces did not feature the "666 ft" depth rating on the dial that came later but did however have it etched on their casebacks. The minimalistic blue dial on this piece has taken on a gorgeous patina and faded to a grey tone, along with it's "ghosted" bezel insert. Remaining in honest and beautiful vintage condition, this two-register chronograph hits all the right notes and stands out as a great collector piece given its provenance.

Dial: Is excellent with no major blemishes to note of. The 3 o-clock lume plot has some tritium missing but appears mostly there to the naked eye. Bezel: Has lume loss in the pip but has a beautiful "ghosted" grey/blue appearance. Hands: Are matching and all of their lume is stable. Case: Remains sharp and the lugs are thick and even in proportion. Normal signs of use consistent with age. All of the markings are deep and crisp. Correct pushers and unsigned crown. Bracelet: Two piece Hodinkee strap in taupe. Crystal: Clear. Accessories: NA All functions of the watch operate flawlessly. The movement is running well on our timegrapher and comes with our 1-year mechanical warranty.
