It’s the 1960s, and a young Gerald Genta joined Bulova on his legendary journey through the pages of horology. Although he didn’t design his most iconic ‘Royal Oak’ until later in in his career (1972) while employed by Audemars Piguet, it didn’t stop Bulova from paying homage to their most famous designer a few years later when the craze for the steel-integrated sports watches began. We realize this is controversial by modern standards, never-mind that something like this could never happen today without finger-pointing and lawsuits, but as the price of the Audemars Piguet 5402 shoots well into six-figure territory, this Bulova homage features an automatic caliber, a tapisserie dial, and iconic great looks for a fraction of the price.

Condition

Light and honest wear across the board. Very well preserved dial with no blemishes to point to. Correct hands for the reference. The case has some scratches on the back but nothing significant in more important areas. It remains extremely sharp. Some oxidation on the crown but it is period correct. Note; there is a tiny number inscribed next to the crown which is faint. (Refer to macro shot) We aren't sure what it is but left if for the next owner to decide if they wish to have it brushed off. We think it's interesting. The movement was serviced by our watchmaker and comes with our 1-year mechanical warranty.
