Launched in 1996, the Cartier "Tank Asymétrique" was the re-adaptation of Cartier's "Parallelogram" - a striking tilted case and dial design for ease in legibility while driving. Just 300 examples were produced in yellow gold and only 100 were cased in platinum. While most of the now timeless Tank references display Roman numerals, this model features Arabic numerals which is unusual for the brand but arguably adds to its luster. The watch also features blued hands and a Paris signed wavy textured guilloche dial. This model can be looked at as a stepping stone for Cartier's now coveted CPCP line (Collection Privée Cartier Paris), which consisted primarily of limited production pieces that collectors now hunt. The "Asymétrique" was re-issued in later years, however, the 1996 variant is viewed by many as the most attractive for its dial, vintage case dimensions and more "true to form" design of the original 1930s piece.

This phenomenally well-preserved example is a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most interesting and beautiful pieces of Cartier history. These don't come up for sale often compared to the Crash models. We believe they could have a bright future due to their scarcity and fascinating place in the annals of Cartier watchmaking. 

Dial: Fantastic preservation with no notable blemishes under magnification. Bezel: Light signs of use consistent with age. There are some micro scratches visible in the photography. Hands: Mint. Case: Excellent with minor wear. It has been lightly polished by Cartier in Paris but remains very full and even in proportion. There is small dent on the crown side but it is not distracting. Hallmarks remain deep and crisp. Correct crown. Bracelet: Two piece glossy gator strap from Cartier. Correct 18k Cartier deployant remaining in excellent shape. Crystal: Clear.
