First released in the 70s, the Santos Carrée was Cartier's attempt to offer an accessible sport watch in both two tone (ref. 2961) and in steel (ref. 2960). At 29mm, the Carrée (square in French), case is perfectly sized to be the perfect blend of elegance and sporty. One might argue that today, more than ever, this model is the Rolex Datejust of Cartier.

A much more seldom seen ref. 2960 Carrée "Massif" however is the 18k example we see here. Finding one in the right condition is getting harder as each year passes but worth the pursuit. This model is a true gem in yellow gold, elevating its feel on wrist to a unique combination of bold design and refinement. Dial: Fantastic preservation with only the lightest signs of "spidering" we see in most of these dials. No distracting blemishes, especially to the naked eye. Bezel: Remains strong with normal signs of use. Hands: Are matching. Case: Sharp with thick and even lugs. Light wear overall. The cabochon has a chip but that can be replaced with Cartier at a later date and the crown is correct. Bracelet: Remains extremely tight with no distracting marks. Will fit up to a 7.25 inch wrist. Crystal: Clear. Accessories: Authentic Cartier service pouch for storage and travel. The movement is running well on our timegrapher and comes with our 1-year mechanical warranty.
