Daniel Roth founded his workshop in the serene Vallée de Joux in 1989 and today is considered one of the pioneers of independent watchmaking. His distinct design language, characterized by the elliptical case and meticulously crafted pinstripe guilloché dials, swiftly distinguished him within the watchmaking fraternity. His timepieces are celebrated for their intricate complexities, such as the tourbillon boasting an impressive 8-day power reserve, the instantaneous perpetual calendar, and the resounding Westminster Grande Sonnerie Carillon.

Daniel Roth released this timepiece to mark the occasion of his 50^th birthday, limited to just 50 pieces. This watch perhaps represents the “platonic ideal” of what has made the watchmaker’s eponymous brand desirable today. His signature elliptical case harmonizes with the hand-done guilloché dial, blued hands and numerals in a semi-circular chapter ring with a stunningly beautiful salmon dial. The limited run by Roth can be interpreted only with intentionality as the “50 for 50 edition” is apropos of the horological history for such an important watchmaker. We would also note that the 31 x 36mm dimensions of this example are easily our favorite DR example adding to its elegance on wrist. This piece has just come back from a complete overhaul  from the high-grade service center WatchCheck. It is in impeccable condition and will surely make a fitting home in the collection of any discerning eye.
