Unlike the Hamilton L.L. Bean signed field watches, this watch was produced by Gallet to be retailed by the outdoor fitter. Some parallels can be drawn to Hamilton since their issued military watches’ success led them into the retail space with the Khaki Field model. A similar situation occurred after Gallet/Marathon were contracted to produce these military diver/navigator style watches for the Gulf War. They feature asymmetric/parkerized cases which clearly took inspiration from the iconic Benrus Type 1 and Type 2. This rare double signed example is one we don’t expect to see again anytime soon.

CONDITION REPORT

Dial: Extremely clean and well-preserved. No notable blemishes under magnification. All of the tritium gas tubes/indices have aged into a nice patina.

Hands: All correct for the model (syringe style hour and minute hands).

Case: Normal signs of use there are some dents but nothing major or distracting. Appears unpolished as the lugs are thick and even. Correct unsigned crown.

Bezel: Remains sharp and well-preserved. The insert has some some light scratches.

Crystal: Clear.
