Gerald Genta Retro Solo "Jump Hour" - *Unpolished*
- Unit price
Gerald Genta was a prominent Swiss watch designer who revolutionized the watchmaking industry with his bold and distinctive designs. Starting his career as an apprentice with Patek Philippe in the 1950s, Genta quickly gained a reputation for his creative and innovative designs. He founded his own design studio in 1969 and became one of the most sought-after watch designers in the industry, creating some of the most iconic watches of the 20th century, including the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, the Patek Philippe Nautilus, and the IWC Ingenieur. Genta's designs were known for their unique shapes, use of materials, and attention to detail, and continue to inspire watchmakers and collectors around the world today.
Genta's own brand had many beautiful and perhaps more whimsical designs that are lesser known. It was in operation under him until he sold the company in 1998 and this "jump hour" comes from the end of the the Genta years of production. It is a relatively affordable piece of high horology and interesting segment of history coming from such an influential designer's brand. The case blends a tonneau and rectangular shape and fits comfortably on small to medium sized wrist and upward. At 32mm wide and only 45mm in length it features a nice comfortable curvature, giving it a blend of sporty and dressy feel on wrist. The dial is a beautiful off-white color and artfully displays the time with large arabic numerals. Perhaps most importantly, this piece comes from the true Genta era of production before he sold the company to Bvlgari.
