Vintage alarm watches are just beginning to capture the attention of collectors and for good reason. The complication is practical and makes for a great conversation starter. While the JLC Memovox and Vulcain Cricket might garner the most discussion, this AS 1475 caliber piece comes from the legendary Swiss manufacturer Girard-Perregaux and is well deserving of consideration. Unlike the Memovox, which used an inner-rotating alarm wheel, the GP alarm features a window at 6 o-clock which frames the complication in an artful way. It's hard to beat the charm of the dial font and the angled lugged case is not only interesting, it wears with slightly more wrist presence than other watches in this size range.

CONDITION REPORT

Dial: Very well-preserved with no notable blemishes to the naked eye. There is a bit of lume loss at the 9-oclock marker but it is not distracting.

Hands: Are correct for the reference. The hour hand has different coloration in the patina but does not appear relumed under UV light. Both contain all of their tritium.

Case: Displays light and honest wear with sharp lines throughout. The lugs are thick and even. The lower crown is unsigned and correct for the reference. Note that the upper one is also correct and signed "A" for the alarm function.

Crystal: Clear.
