This is one of several watches from the private collection of a United States military veteran of 31 years who was deployed in Iraq and ultimately stationed as a Senior Military Representative at the Pentagon. His merits include the Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart, among many others; a career which took him around the globe, all the while he collected watches and took great care to keep them in perfect condition. Some watches he picked up at flea markets, some were gifts from other soldiers.

Issued in Jun of 1988, this "Type D" specification example comes from the tail end of Hamilton's military contract. The "Type D" is now coveted by Hamilton collectors for this reason and for its rarity. The higher grade/hacking ETA 2801-2 movement is also viewed as a plus compared to earlier "Type B" spec examples. According to the previous owner and veteran who collected dozens of watches, this particular piece also featured left indented markings on the caseback of which we have not been able to find anywhere else (they are normally centered) - perhaps a more unique feature of this run. Having been recently serviced, this piece has had its hands stabilized to prevent lume loss for decades to come. Condition, history and provenance, this one has it all.

Dial: Fantastic with all of its tritium plots present and evenly aged to a nice yellow and matching patina. No notable blemishes. Bezel: Normal signs of use. Hands: Are matching and were just professionally stabilized to prevent any possible lume loss. Case: Normal signs of use consistent with age. Correct signed "H" crown. Bracelet: Correct single pass style strap in black. Crystal: There are some light scratches but no cracks. They could always be buffed off but we prefer to leave the history there.
