Abercrombie & Fitch wasn't always what we think of today. In fact, the first iteration of the brand (1892 - 1977) used to be New York's most luxurious outfitter for sporting goods. Notable figures from Ernest Hemingway to U.S. presidents were customers of the retailer, where one could find everything from a canoe to the best trekking gear available the world over. Amongst the various essential tools sold were of course wrist watches.
This brings us to this particular three-register Heuer 2446C chronograph which was initially developed for timing racing laps. Overall, it is a highly sought-after watch among collectors due to its iconic design, excellent movement, and rich history in motorsports. Finding one in this kind of condition is exciting in and of itself but finding one retailed by A&F is truly rare detail that collectors covet. This example is a stand out with amazing tritium patina, strong case and a well-preserved Heuer bracelet. If you're looking to diversify your collection, we believe now is a fantastic time to look into Heuer as an alternative to the Rolex Daytona and Omega Speedmasters of the era.
