Originally a component of tool watches issued to German pilots in the 1960s, the "Bund" strap features a three-part design with a leather pad between the watch case/wrist and has been seen on notable figure from Paul Newman to Miles Davis. Collectors now affectionately refer to this Heuer military chronograph as the "Bund" which was regularly used on this strap variant. The manually-wound Valjoux movements these pieces housed featured a flyback mechanism for the purpose of extreme accuracy in military aviation.

This particular "Small T" example displays a just that above its 6 o-clock numeral, denoting the use of tritium on the dial. Overall, this piece remains in gorgeous vintage condition with all of the large Arabic displaying attractive aging. The hands were all recently color match to pair with the dial perfectly.
