Heuer’s “Carrera” line of watches began in 1963. This variant, Ref 73353 S, would be considered the ‘first execution’ hallmarked by the Valjoux 7733 manual-wind caliber within and dates this piece to a production period of 1970-1 according to On The Dash. Some executions beginning in 1969 were powered by Heuer’s automatic Caliber 11 movement driving the dual registers but at the expense of added case thickness. The proportions of this chronograph really set it apart from it’s self-winding cousins. Featuring a shimmering silver sunburst dial with faded-denim registers and outer-tachymeter ring, all tied together with a crisp red chrono center-seconds hand, we think this watch stands out as a classic with roots stemming from the legendary historic road racing events like La Carrera Panamerica in Mexico. A must have collectible for any vintage racing fan. The piece comes with the racing strap shown that has been lightly used. It was kept for the purpose of photography.

Condition

Overall, this piece has been extremely well-preserved. The dial is practically mint with no blemishes to point to. The case has a few light scuffs but no significant dents - the edges remain very sharp. The pushers have a bit of oxidation but are correct for the reference. Period correct signed crown. The movement was serviced by our watchmaker and comes with our 1-year mechanical warranty.
