IKEPOD Hemipode 1st Gen Grand Date w/Box - Early 2000s
- Unit price
- /per
Vintage and neo-vintage Ikepod watches are beginning to garner more attention from the collector community and for good reason. The Swiss brand is most known for its round "pod" case shapes which resemble UFOs, stand out for being incredibly unique, imaginative and playful. Designer Marc Newson who co-founded the company in 1994 left a distinct brand identity. Analyzing Ikepod, one can easily draw parallels with the Apple Watch; another Newson design which was arguably his most successful and a product that went on to become the top selling wrist watch in history.
The Hemipode being offered is the limited edition (9999 pieces) with Grand Date window which is beautifully displayed towards the upper middle of the black dial. The watch has a quickset feature for the date and houses the ETA 7750 chronograph movement which interestingly was the first movement the Swiss watch industry leveraged a computer for to create.
World renowned vintage watch expert Eric Wind recently added this particular reference to his personal collection. We believe this speaks volumes for these pieces, considering the incredible inventory that passes through his hands.
