Vintage and neo-vintage Ikepod watches are beginning to garner more attention from the collector community and for good reason. The Swiss brand is most known for its round "pod" case shapes which resemble UFOs, stand out for being incredibly unique, imaginative and playful. Designer Marc Newson who co-founded the company in 1994 left a distinct brand identity. Analyzing Ikepod, one can easily draw parallels with the Apple Watch; another Newson design which was arguably his most successful and a product that went on to become the top selling wrist watch in history.
This Hemipode HD02 chronograph/GMT model circa early 2000's is in near new condition. The watch was clearly cherished and well cared for but has some unique qualities. The sub dials have taken on a warm tropical patina that ranges from brown to golden bronze, hence the nickname the "Tropical Panda." Perhaps even more exciting, this example comes as an incredible full set coming from one of Ikepod's Japanese subsidiaries, which we believe to be one of the, if not the most complete set to come to market. These Hemipodes are just a joy to wear on wrist and if you've been hunting for one, this is a great opportunity to acquire one of the best Ikepods to trade hands publicly.
