We believe this Jaeger dress watch dates to the 1970s. It features a radiant silver sunburst dial which glows in the light while remaining understated hiding under a cuff. A unique quirk of this dial is the absence of a “SWISS” marking at 6 o’clock, indicating it was originally produced for the French market. It is paired with a period correct Jaeger Paris-signed strap that has seen little wrist time.
This watch came to us from a private collection of a United States military veteran of over 30 years who was deployed in Iraq, stationed at the Pentagon and the Department of Defense. He wears the Combat Action Badge, and The Parachutist Badge amongst others. His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart; a career which took him around the globe, all the while he collected watches and took great care to keep them in excellent shape.
Condition
The dial is very well-preserved. It shows a touch of aging near some of the markers but it is not distracting. The case is razor sharp and has likely never seen a polish. The caseback has some scratches from being opened previously. We can’t be certain if the unsigned crown is correct to the watch but it matches the case well. The movement is running great and comes with our 1-year mechanical warranty.
