Amongst avid collectors it is a well known story that in the 60s and 70s, Seiko had two factories: the Daini factory producing King Seiko and the Suwa factory, Grand Seiko. The two factories participated in some inter-company competition in order to outdo the other in terms of quality and innovation. The collector community is just beginning to pick up on not only vintage Grand Seiko but also its sibling King Seiko for its incredible quality and value in todays market.

This King Seiko "56KS" HI-BEAT is no exception. King Seikos were produced from the early 60s until the mid-70s, and this example is circa 1969. This particular piece features a silver/white dial and the practical addition of a quickset date. The enamel filled dauphine hands and indices have a sharp contrasting pop against the dial. As an added bonus, the watch came with a KS signed bracelet.

CONDITION REPORT

Dial: Extremely clean. No notable blemishes under magnification.

Bezel: No notable issues.

Hands: No issues.

Case: Extremely sharp and appears unpolished. Honest signs of use consistent with age. Correct signed crown.

Bracelet: Medium to light stretch and appears unpolished. Will fit between a 6.5 - 7.5 inch wrist.

Crystal: Clear.
