This Futurematic houses one of the most over-engineered movements of the 1950s from any manufacture of the period. Produced from 1951 to 1958, it was the first automatic watch without a crown. It is believed that the R&D to create this watch was so extraordinary, Jaeger LeCoultre was never able to recoupe their investment, and subsequently discontinued it. This particular example has a well-preserved yellow 10k GF case with beautiful angular lugs and features a two-tone LeCoultre-signed dial, signifying that it was originally retailed in the North American market. If a historically important Jaeger is on your hit list, look no further than this collector grade example.

Condition

The dial is well-preserved and shows some minor aging that is all visible in our macro photography. It is still one of the better preserved dial examples we’ve seen. It appears as though the 5 o-clock marker was re-attached to the dial and isn't perfectly straight. It looks to be the correct marker compared to the others. The case remains sharp and shows honest wear throughout. The hands all appear to be correct for the reference. Period correct “crown” on the back for a unique operation of the hands. The bumper automatic movement was serviced by our watchmaker and comes with our 1-year mechanical warranty.
