The Patek Philippe Calatrava stands as a testament to one of the most esteemed watch designs from the 20th century, with its origins dating back to the 1930s, commencing with the iconic ref. 96. Today it remains what most collectors consider to be the archetype of a time-only dress watch.
On offer is a a rare Calatrava ref. 3411J housed in yellow gold, circa late 50s to early 60s. This manual wind piece houses a high-grade caliber 27SC and at 34.5mm is well suited for small to medium sized wrists. This example has remained in excellent vintage condition. The dial is very well preserved with no notable wear under magnification. The raised enamel signature is prominent. The case shows thick, evenly proportioned lugs with nicely preserved edges. There is a hallmark still visible and a Patek service sticker still intact. It has a recent service from Patek Philippe in '23 with documentation still included. Also included from service are an 18k Patek pin buckle, Patek strap in glossy black gator and correct 18k gold spring bars. For anyone looking for a perennial classic dress watch its tough to beat the charm of a true vintage Calatrava with proper documentation to stand behind it.
Dial: Is excellent with no notable wear under magnification. The raised enamel signature is prominent. Overall, fantastic for its age.
Bezel: Is sharp with no distracting wear.
Hands: Are matching and well preserved.
Case: Shows thick, evenly proportioned lugs with nicely preserved edges. There is a hallmark still visible and a Patek service sticker still intact. Correct signed crown.
Crystal: Clear.
Bracelet: 18k Patek Philippe pin buckle and Patek strap in glossy black gator.
Accessories: Service papers from Patek Philippe (dated '23), Patek service box, tag, 18k Patek pin buckle, 18k Patek spring bars and Patek strap.
