The Patek Philippe Calatrava stands as a testament to one of the most esteemed watch designs from the 20th century, with its origins dating back to the 1930s, commencing with the iconic ref. 96. Today it remains what most collectors consider to be the archetype of a time-only dress watch.
On offer is a rare opportunity to acquire a ref. 3509 in stainless steel. Although exact production numbers are unknown, collectors estimate that vintage production in stainless steel was well below 5%. This particular example houses a fantastic grey dial, accented by white roman numerals and white hands which stand out for great legibility. It has remained in excellent vintage condition with a very well preserved dial. The case is equally strong with thick lugs that remain sharp. For the discerning collector, this seldom seen timepiece comes with an extract from the archives, confirming its sale in '68 and its correct stainless steel Patek Philippe spring bars and pin buckle.
