The Patek Philippe Calatrava stands as a testament to one of the most esteemed watch designs from the 20th century, with its origins dating back to the 1930s, commencing with the iconic ref. 96. A direct descendent of the ref. 96 (30.5mm) is the ref. 3796 with identical dimensions, an upgraded movement and sapphire crystal it makes for the perfect purist neo-vintage option today and frankly one of the most endearing sized dress watches available. The ref. 5026 is yet another derivation of the original ref. 96 design with boosted proportions, coming in at 33.5mm wide and 41mm lug to lug which is ample for medium to larger sized wrists. This ref. also benefits from a display case back to appreciate its high-grade 240 PS micro-rotor movement.

This particular example is cased in yellow gold and features a silver dial with Breguet style numerals and a sub-seconds register at the 5 o-clock position. Any Patek Philippe with these numerals is special and we would argue this ref. remains largely undervalued considering where older examples can trade. We could not pass up on acquiring this piece for its mint dial and very well preserved case which boasts sharp edges, deep and crisp hallmarks and no distracting wear.
