In 2006 Patek Philippe released the ref. 5140 as a successor to the now iconic 3940 which is today considered the quintessential perpetual calendar for the last half century. Given the significance of the pervious reference, we believe the 5140 could potentially be undervalued and a genuine collector piece in the future. Today it's already a benchmark for how other automatic perpetual calendars are viewed. Notably, the 5140 inherited the groundbreaking caliber 240Q and boosted its case slightly from 36mm to 37mm. The dial also received some minor contemporary tweaks for added legibility, all the while remaining fantastically elegant.
This particular example houses a blue sunburst dial and is cased in the most noble of metals - platinum, making for a stunning combination. For the discerning collector, this piece comes as a truly complete set, including inner and outer boxes, original warranty papers, serialized hang tag with original sticker price ($112,500), sealed PP setting pin, PP strap and 950 pt deployant, folio, and all booklets including the important 240Q. To boot, it has remained in extremely well-preserved condition with deep, crisp hallmarks and thick, even case dimensions showing very little wear. For anyone looking for this reference in its most desirable combination and a potential future classic Patek Philippe, we're thrilled to offer you your next timepiece.
