The Rolex Air-King is one of the most quietly significant yet undervalued models in the brand’s lineup. Originally introduced in the 1940s to honor RAF pilots, it represents a pure expression of Rolex’s Oyster heritage and time-only simplicity, balanced proportions, and everyday reliability. This particular F09X serial example, circa '04 remains in new old stock condition with  factory stickers and has open warranty papers, making it a collectors dream. It features an interesting commemorative engraving of "Golgo13" which is a Japanese comic about a professional assassin, written and illustrated by Takao Saito which happens to be the best selling manga series of all time (300 million copies). We believe this watch was presented as a gift from Takao to someone affiliated with the series but that stone is left unturned for now. Anyone with an appreciation for the comic, Japanese culture and/or military ephemera could find this piece enticing. The engraving is shallow and can easily be brushed away if the next owner so chooses.
