This Rolex Air-King reference 5500 features a logo dial from the now defunct oil company Pool Intairdril which operated predominantly in Lybia. These were given to Pool's management during the 1970s and 1980s as safety awards to celebrate accident-free records on their oil rigs.

With the growing popularity of other Rolex logo dials from luxury brands like Tiffany & Co to the Dominos Pizza logos, we believe the "Pool" dial could have a bright future given that these collaborations are likely never coming back.

This particular piece is a top example and comes with box and papers. Adding to its provenance, it also features an engraving of what we presume was the primary owner "I. T. Taylor."

CONDITION REPORT

Dial: No blemishes to note of under magnification. All of the tritium lume plots are full and have aged evenly.

Bezel: Sharp and appears unpolished. There is a light scuff towards 6 o-clock but it is not distracting.

Hands: Match one another and that of the lume on the dial.

Case: Appears unpolished. Very light signs of use. Correct signed crown.

Bracelet: Correct and tight J.B. Champion bracelet which appears unpolished and fully linked.

Crystal: Clear.
