Introduced in 1956, the Rolex Day-Date was the first wristwatch to display both the day of the week and the date on its dial. Beyond this practical complication, it became synonymous with influential individuals throughout the following decades, including celebrities and leaders of industry. After adorning the wrists of both U.S. Presidents and other world leaders, the nickname "President" became synonymous with the model. Today, the Day-Date represents a tradition of Swiss watchmaking excellence and serves as a testament to Rolex's unwavering commitment to quality, precision, and enduring style.

This four digit example, circa 1962 features a rare gold non-luminous "Claw" dial providing a classic and monochrome appearance. The non-lume dauphine style hands are also matching and appear correct. This piece has remained in excellent vintage condition with a nicely preserved dial. The case is strong with easily legible markings, displaying beautiful patina, as is the matching Japanese bracelet which displays normal stretch for its age and it will fit an approximate 8.5 inch wrist. The proportions of the ref. 1803 are tough to beat in terms of charm. This piece feels equally at home on a leather or suede strap to be made more casual. With this type of rare configuration, we'd argue this piece remains an excellent value in today's market. 

Dial: Is a rare non-luminous "Claw" variant and excellent for its age. It displays light patina with no distracting wear. Bezel: Normal signs of use and no distracting wear. Hands: Are matching. Case: Displays thick and even lugs with sharp edges. All numbers are clearly visible. Correct signed crown. Bracelet: Is a Japanese market variant with stunning patina. It displays normal stretch for its age (medium) and will fit an approximate 8.5 inch wrist. Displays no stretch whatsoever and retains 22 links. More links are available at request of the new owner.
