It features a beautifully simple and balanced dial, luminous hour markers, and a robust stainless steel case. The watch is also equipped with Rolex's patented Oyster case technology, which provides exceptional water resistance and protection from dust and other environmental hazards. The Explorer has been worn on notable expeditions and adventures and has become a symbol of Rolex's commitment to quality and reliability in extreme conditions, and has earned a top spot in the list of Rolex's iconic models. The ref. 1016 was the longest running in the model line ('60-'89) and is coveted by collectors today for its pure design. Of all vintage Rolex watches, it might just be their most beautiful no-frills creation.
