Among vintage Tudor watches, the 7928 is a standout. Tudor debuted the reference 7928 in 1959, maintaining its production for nearly a decade. This model marked a significant evolution in the Submariner line, introducing crown guards and increasing the case size to 39mm—an upgrade from the earlier 37mm case seen in the ref. 7924. Throughout its production span, the 7928 saw a wide array of case and dial variations, making it the most diverse reference in Tudor’s Submariner history. Notably, however, these Tudor watches consistently retained the modified Fleurier caliber 390 movement carried over from previous models.
This particular example, circa 1968 is fresh to market and nothing short of breathtaking given its current state of condition. It houses a late Mk7 matte dial with white print. It shows incredible preservation remaining completely mint under magnification. All of the tritium plots are full and have aged cleanly to a highly attractive "golden khaki" hue, matching the hands. The case also appears completely untouched with no signs of polishing. The lugs remain thick, evenly proportioned with prominent bevels. Equally impressive is the insert which shows no notable wear. It is paired to its correct rivet 7206/80 with correct '67 date code. It appears unpolished, retains 11 links fitting an approximate 7.5 inch wrist. It comes accompanied by a correct box and folder. We could not be more thrilled to offer such an exceptional timepiece which is surely one of the best surviving late model 7928s in the world today.
