Tudor debuted the reference 7928 in 1959, maintaining its production for nearly a decade. This model marked a significant evolution in the Submariner line, introducing crown guards and increasing the case size to 39mm—an upgrade from the earlier 37mm case seen in the ref. 7924. Throughout its production span, the 7928 saw a wide array of case and dial variations, making it the most diverse reference in Tudor’s Submariner history. Notably, however, Tudor consistently retained the modified Fleurier caliber 390 movement carried over from previous models.

This particular example, circa 1965 houses a gorgeous Mk5 "gilt chapter ring" dial and "ghosted" bezel insert with a striking blue/grey fading. While most Rolex Subs of this era were glossy, Tudor primarily focused on matte production. Interestingly, this period of Tudor tended to develop a satin-like finish over time and such is the case with this example. Overall, it has remained in nice vintage condition with a very well-preserved dial/hand. The insert retains its tritium pip and the case shows honest signs of use but the lugs remain thick and even. The rivet bracelet shows a correct matching date code, retains 11 links and has medium stretch. It will fit an approximate 7.25 inch wrist. For anyone looking for a vintage Sub with the immense charm of a rose logo and chapter ring dial, this piece hits all the right notes.

Dial: Is signed "T Swiss T." It is beautifully preserved with clean matching tritium lume plots. There are no distracting areas of wear to note. Bezel insert: Excellent with a stunning "ghost" fading of blue/grey. The pip remains intact. Hands: Are matching and their lume has aged nicely. Case: Has seen some polishing in the past but still retains thick and evenly proportioned lugs. Honest signs of use consistent with age. Correct signed crown. Bracelet: Period correct 65 date code. Retains 11 links and displays medium stretch. Note that it could be rebuilt to factory tightness at a later date for a fair cost, elevating the value of the piece and we have resources to do so.
