The Tudor Submariner or "Snowflake" as its affectionately referred to by collectors was introduced in the early to mid 70s with the ref. 9401/0 (no date) and 9411/0 (date). The nickname came from their distinctive squared indices and "Snowflake" like hour/seconds hands. This additional luminous material aided it in being a highly capable tool watch that we now know today has well-documented military use being issued to the French Marine Nationale and other countries' armed forces. Out of all the vintage tool watches the "Snowflake" is one of our absolute favorite choices for its distinctive design and special aura that nice examples can convey. 

This particular blue example is a more desirable "no date" variant and remains in fantastic vintage condition. We would estimate that roughly one in every several thousand "Blue Snowflakes" appear compared to vintage Rolex Submariners, making them far more scarce. This example boasts a mint dial with "buttermilk" colored plots, a gorgeous deep blue insert with matching pip and what appear to be factory stabilized hands, alleviating any concern of lume loss. The case is also excellent and though lightly polished, still retains thick and even lugs and factory bevels are still clearly visible. The Rolex signed bracelet retains 10 links, has light stretch and will fit an approximate 7.25 inch wrist. This blue "Snowflake" on offer is fit for collectors of any level and perfect for anyone looking to add a remarkable vintage tool watch to their lineup.

Dial: Stunning and mint with highly attractive "buttermilk" colored tritium plots. All of the lume is clean and no blemishes under magnification. Bezel insert: Fantastic with a matching and intact tritium pip. Very light signs of use. Hands: Are matching. All hands appear to have been factory stabilized which will alleviate any concerns of lume lose. Case: Excellent and retains thick and evenly proportioned lugs. Factory bevels still clearly visible.
