The UG Polerouter made a lasting mark in horology with its romantic ties to aviation. Introduced in 1954, the model was released in partnership with Scandinavian Airline System (SAS), with the goal of creating a timepiece that was resistant to higher magnetism experienced in the North and South Poles. The Polerouter is also coveted for being a Gérald Genta design and at only 24 years old at the time, it is considered his first great contribution to horology. Genta would go on to design two of the most iconic pieces of the 20th century with the Nautilus and Royal Oak and more. Today, collectors are coveting the Polerouter as much as ever with the recent release of the Polerouter book in late '23. It was also around this time that the news of Breitling acquiring UG broke, which many collectors hope will further invigorate appreciation for the brand with its re-inception. 

This Polerouter Date on offer, circa '65 is a remarkable set that includes its correct box, warranty papers, JB Champion "zigzag" bracelet with box, original UG signed leather strap with UG signed pin buckle, extra NOS signed acrylic crystal with trapezoidal date magnifier and two extra leather straps in black grained leather and brown calf. Notably, the watch itself has remained in stunning vintage condition with a mirror-like glossy black dial that has all of its tritium plots still intact, putting it into a league of condition that's a cut above. The case is equally stunning and appears unpolished with sharp and evenly proportioned lugs. Notably, the case and ref. numbers are still clearly legible. This is surely one of the best surviving examples in the world and would undoubtedly make for a trophy piece for any serious UG collector. 

Dial: Incredible preservation with mirror gloss finish still intact and all tritium lume plots still intact. It displays very light wear with no notable blemishes. Finding a dial in this state today is very difficult and undoubtedly puts this example into a league of its own.

Hands: Are matching and their lume is stable.

Case: Appears unpolished with thick, even lugs and sharp chamfers. The caseback ref. number and serial are still visible which is rare very desirable to find in vintage UG. Correct signed crown.

Crystal: Original signed acrylic crystal with trapezoidal date magnifier. It has some light wear but no cracks. NOS crystal also included.

Bracelet: JB Champion stainless steel "zigzag" bracelet for the USA market, original UG signed leather strap and UG signed pin buckle.

Accessories: Box, warranty papers, JB Champion "zigzag" bracelet with box, original UG signed leather strap with UG signed pin buckle, NOS signed acrylic crystal with trapezoidal date magnifier and two extra leather straps in black grained leather and brown calf.
