The UG Polerouter made a lasting mark in horology with its romantic ties to aviation. Introduced in 1954, the model was released in partnership with Scandinavian Airline System (SAS), with the goal of creating a timepiece that was more resistant to higher magnetism experienced in the North and South Poles. The Polerouter is of course also coveted for being a Gerald Genta design and at only 24 years old at the time, its considered his first great contribution to horology. He would of course go on to design two of the most iconic pieces of the 20th century with the Nautilus and Royal Oak and more. Today collectors are coveting the Polerouter as much as ever with the recent release of the Polerouter book in late '23. It was also around this time that the news of Breitling acquiring UG broke, which many collectors hope will further invigorate appreciation for the brand with its re-inception. 

This Polerouter date example has a stunning "dark caramel" colored tropical/tritium dial that will leave any collector swooning. The case has remained in honest condition with sharp chamfers and houses UG's high grade caliber 69 micro rotor movement. This particular Polerouter also comes in at 36mm which is slightly larger than some other refs at 35mm. For anyone looking for a striking vintage dress watch, its tough to beat the beauty of an even and fully tropical brown dial in this type of condition. 

Dial: The tritium dial as taken a stunning "dark caramel" tropical color with even fading. There are some light age spots visible in photography but nothing too distracting. Hands: Are matching and their lume is stable. Case: Normal signs of wear consistent with age. Sharp and full looking lugs that are even in proportion. The logo has worn off the back which has occurred with most examples. The serial and ref number are still visible with a loupe. Signed UG crown appears to be a service replacement. Crystal: Clear. Bracelet: Two piece and supple brown leather strap. All functions of the watch operate flawlessly. The movement is running well on our timegrapher and comes with our 1-year mechanical warranty.
