Universal Genève Polerouter Sub Mk1 w/Stretch Bracelet - Very Rare - 1960s
- Unit price
- /per
Whether you're a passionate collector, dealer or just someone who appreciates timepieces, at some point you've probably daydreamed about stumbling upon some sort of find on a local treasure hunt. That's exactly what happened with this Universal Genève. Recently, our friend Andrew Baker of Watermark Watches in Boston walked into an estate jewelry shop and was amazed to see this Polerouter Sub sitting in the display case (refer to photos). Not only was it in "barn find" condition but also on consignment from the original owner!
In researching these amazing super compressors we understand that they are extremely rare to come across, especially accompanied with a complete bracelet. This particular example features a gorgeous mark 1 gilt dial and according to reference data from the Polerouter Reference Website was likely produced circa 1961-2. Between the story, the honest condition and genuine beauty of these oversized UG subs, we could not be more thrilled to offer this exciting piece of history to the next caretaker.
CONDITION REPORT
Dial: Excellent general preservation. All of the radium plots are full and intact. They have aged to a rich and even color patina. Note that the 7 0-clock marker appears deformed but that is just a distortion from the crystal.
Bezel: The inner rotating bezel still has all of its lume intact with gorgeous patina.
Hands: All of the radium lume is intact and has aged evenly.
Case: Appears sharp with thick and even lugs. Honest signs of use all around. Correct upper and lower hash crowns for the Mk1 variant. Etching on caseback still clearly visible.
Bracelet: Correct stretch bracelet and end links. Will fit up to a 7.5 inch wrist.
Crystal: Has some scratches. We decided not to polish it to preserve its history.
