Vacheron Constantin Jumbo Automatic Calatrava 4870 - Archive Papers/*Unpolished*
- Unit price
- /per
One of the oldest watchmaking companies, Vacheron was founded in 1755 in Geneva, Switzerland. As part of the "Holy Trinity," along with Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet, VC is known for their high-quality and unique design language. Even today, however, the brand remains relatively under-appreciated considering their significant contribution to horology.
Prized among collectors, the VC ref. 4870 stands out as a gem in the brands '50s and '60s offerings. Often dubbed the "Jumbo," the 35.5mm case is a notable departure from the smaller watches of the era, pairing mid-century refinement with minimalist elegance. Its narrow bezel and clean dial layout with applied indices clearly echo the Calatrava spirit. Notably, this references also houses a high-grade automatic P1019/1 caliber that not only makes it practical but arguably makes it a great value considering where the Patek Philippe ref. 2526 trades today. This piece has remained in remarkable vintage condition with an untouched dial. The waterproof case is also fantastically well preserved and appears unpolished with deep, crisp hallmarks and minimal signs of wear. For anyone who appreciates the aura of a "true vintage" dress watch and prioritizes condition, we're thrilled to offer this piece to its next custodian. An Archive Extract has also been ordered and will be included to add to its provenance.
