The Zenith El Primero owes its historical importance to its movement. The caliber 3019 PHC was the first automatic chronograph movement with a high frequency of 36,000 VPH. Even Rolex later modified the El Primero movement for its Daytona chronograph, which is why it is now referred to as the "Zenith Daytona" by collectors. It is estimated that only 2600 of these A348 references were produced from the late 1960s to early 1970s. 

When thinking of vintage chronographs its hard not to place tropical dials at the top of the list for beauty and desirability. This particular Zenith has take on a remarkable milk chocolate tropical patina that will make any collector come back for more. We believe these pieces to be a good relative value considering their historical importance and connection to Rolex, as well as where other tropical watches trade. Between the unpolished case/bracelet and warm dial, this example has it all and more.

Dial: Fantastic and even tropicalization of the sub dials and outer chapter ring. All of the tritium plots are present and full. There is some light wear viewable under magnification but is not distracting in any particular area. Bezel: Sharp with light signs of use consistent with age. Hands: Are matching. All of their tritium is stable. Case: Appears unpolished with sharp and prominent chamfers. Correct pushers and signed crown. Bracelet: Correct Zenith branded folded link with light stretch. Accessories: Chocolate eye candy. The movement is running well on our timegrapher and comes with our 1-year mechanical warranty.
